When launched for the first time, the iPhone created a storm in the world of touch screen smartphones and people got up and noticed what an extraordinary touchscreen OS can do to the entire ecosystem of touch screen based smart phones. In the same way, when T-Mobile launched G1, the first phone that ran on Android OS, open source OSs on mobile phones had a new meaning and from that moment, we have seen tons of Android phones being launched by companies like HTC, Samsung and Google themselves. May be not popular as the iPhone, Android as an OS was noticed and it is here to stay
